Next week we begin the Season of Lent. On Tuesday students will make pancakes in their classrooms to celebrate Shrove Tuesday and on Wednesday the 22nd of February our school will celebrate the Ash Wednesday Mass at 10:00 am. Everyone is invited to attend Ash Wednesday Mass with us.
Lent is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving to those less fortunate than ourselves through action and we practice self-control through fasting. Lent symbolises the time that Jesus spent in the desert, praying and fasting.
