MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS: GRADES 3 / 4.
In preparation for our Cultural performance KASA JIZO, students have been exploring Japanese stories, poems and culture.
This week we looked at traditional Japanese HAIKU poems which follow the rules below:
*It has 3 lines
*Line 1 has 5 syllables
*Line 2 has 7 syllables
*Line 3 has 5 syllables, making 17 syllables in total.
*It doesn’t rhyme.
We used pictures from Japan as a stimulus for our poetry writing.

Pretty branches are dark pink
It is very pretty.
