Religious Education is a core curriculum area at St Mary's. Our hope is for children to deepen their understanding of the Christian Story in a contemporary context. The Diocese of Sale's Religious Education Curriculum, To Live in Christ Jesus, provides a robust curriculum framework from which teachers plan and implement Religious Education inquiries at St Mary's. Some of the content explored through Religious Education includes, God, the life and mission of Jesus, the Sacraments, Christian life and Catholic social teaching. Through open dialogue, the sudents are given an opportunity to develop their faith, by building a relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. These experiences support all students to be more aware of themselves, of others, of the world and the Christian faith and tradition.
St Mary's participates in daily prayers, class and whole school liturgies, and school Masses. If baptised in the Catholic church, students are able to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. These Sacraments are taught in conjunction with the school, parents and parish. Students who are not Catholic are able to receive a Special Blessing as part of our Sacramental Program.
