Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
It has been wonderful to have a whole week together at St Mary’s, and alongside our learning, the school has been a vibrant showcase of poems, beautiful voices and learning lines for the up and coming Sixtieth Yarram Eisteddfod. At this stage, we are waiting on information from the Eisteddfod Committee about the finer details of the week.
ST MARY OF THE CROSS FEAST DAY
Mary MacKillop Feast Day is held every August 8th, in honour of the revered Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She was the first Saint of Australia, and her influence in the country has spread far and wide. She is recognised for her commitment to the poor and helping those who needed it the most in any way she could. Her legacy continues today in countless ways. Education in its many facets is still a strong ministry for the Sisters of Saint Joseph who were founded in Penola, South Australia, in 1866 by Mary Helen MacKillop and Reverend Julian Edmund Tenison Woods.
Enjoy Your Weekend,
Kind Regards,
Maria
Jump Rope for Heart kicks off this term!
Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 36 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.
Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.
It’s important you register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in the online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons, reccess & lunch breaks During this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Tuesday 14th September 2021, this will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
Our Children have been so enthusiastic skipping at recess and lunchtime, learning new tricks and having lots of fun.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is a very special Sacrament as it completes the process that was begun by our parents when we were baptised. Confirmation builds on what began at our Baptism and is nourished by the Holy Eucharist. Confirmation completes our initiation into the Christian Community.
This Sunday seven children will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation where they will say ‘yes’ to what was begun by their parents with the Sacrament of Baptism.
Blake, Rylan, Xavier, William, Charlotte, Vanessa and Ryan.
Please keep these children and families in your thoughts and prayers. A big thanks go out to our beautiful choir also as they have prepared to lead the singing.
St Mary's will be celebrating Book week with a few exciting activities: The Theme for Book Week this year is "Old World, New World, Other Worlds".
Visit to the Yarram Library
Thursday 26th of August we will be visiting the Yarram Library at 11.30am for all the students to listen to a story.
Thank you Breanna and Olivia for the beautiful posters.

Nurturing young boys’ friendships
There are a couple of factors in helping our kids in the early years at school. One is a warm connected relationship with the teacher or education assistant. The other is having at least one friend they can rely on at school....
